I'm sure you guys are all over the moon to know that
we can now add thumbnails back to our videos. It isn't quite as complex as
before either, so now all our new videos can have the little image to help us
work out what we are looking at. All it now takes is a jpg resized to 120x72
pixels.
The two (free!) tools i use are of course media player classic and
IrfanView
Load up your MP4 video in media player classic skip forward to find the frame
you like the most and go to file>save image. At this point its easier to change
the name to the same as your video, ie. my MP4 is called heroes1.mp4 so i call
my jpg heroes1.jpg. Then open the jpg up in IrfanView and go to
image>resize/resample and put in 120 as the width and 72 as the height, make
sure preserve aspect ration is un-ticked. Then just upload the jpg to your
video folder and there you go, we are all happy little monkeys!
