How to get your DVD's converted to x264

VOB to PSP in a few easy steps (haha, not likely!) |
Okay, this hurts to write, i dont even want to write this DVD guide as
its going to make my brain melt. Its not a simple procedure, especially
for those who have never used DGMPGDec, megui or even DVD decrypter.
Okay, here goes. in 3 steps. Rip your VOB files, create your d2v file,
then load it into your avisynth script. Luckily MeGUI can do a lot of
this for you. First things, you need to install a DVD ripping prog
like
DVD decrypter (direct link)
http://www.doom9.org/index.html?/software.htm (find in Descrambling
/ Ripping tools).
Im not gonna tell you how to use DVD decrypter, google it, or have a
look here:
http://www.dvdshrink.info/dvd-decrypter.php
Ok, lets assume you have worked it all out and you have your VOB of your
favourite episode of the the office. You then have to create your d2v
file.

have a look on that for the part about DGMPGDec (1.41 or later). Once
you have downloaded and placed the DGMPGDec executable in your folder
and told megui where it should be found (tools-settings-program
paths tab), you will be able to load the D2V creater via MeGUI
(tools-D2V creator). see pic below.

click the .. button to the right of "video input" and find your VOB
file. tick the middle, demux all audio tracks, change the project output
location if you dont like the location chosen. tick "on completion
load files" then "and close" and click the Queue button. This will then
load the process into the megui Queue tab, click start button and the
DGIndex window will open and do its things. (if its minimised, right
click on it and chose restore to get the window up). It should
tell you how long its going to take. Once its done, you should find a
nice .d2v file and a demuxed audio file in your folder (usally AC3 if a
movie).
Then, if you ticked the load files on completition, you should be
presented with the AviSynth script creator. This is a handy way to
generate your avs files if you dont know what your doing.

dont worry too much about all the other options, make sure the correct
aspect ratio is selected (input DAR). then in resolution, tick "suggest
resolution" and put in 368 as above. If you want, you can then save the
avs file. Double click to open and make sure it works. If you wanted to
do fancy things like analyse to see if its interlaced, you would need to
press he analyse button in the middle, follow the guide on the doom9
forum above as you would need extra files installed. If you want
to manually check the avs file, or add extra parts, like
assumefps(24.00) then click the edit tab, will open the window as below.

you could tick the "on save close and load to be encoded" if you wished,
but i usually go off and take a rest for 20 mins after this bit ;) you
can then easily load the avs file back into megui at a later time.
thats pretty much it, encode your video file via megui and encode your
AC3 (or whatever format demuxed audio) using besweet.
