Welcome to my brief guide to using RipBot264. It's brief for a simple reason, its so easy even a highly intoxicated gibbon could use it, i have tested this claim, so no emails suggesting i make things up.
So why RipBot264? Well I love meGUI like my own brother, but boy is it a
complex little flea. Sometimes that's all nice and sweet, but sometimes its not.
RipBot264 makes encoding for the PSP (and PS3 and xbox) oh so simple and nice.
It still uses the wonderful x264 codec so the meat behind it is the same as
meGUI.
I can no longer upload the files to my ISP server as im not with them anymore, so im trying this from VIPeers which allows for torrent and direct file download. Seed if you download via this link :)
RipBot264 v1.11.5
File sharing & torrents by VIPeers
Ok so first things, download RipBot264
here (right click, save as etc.). If I have been really dumb and messed up
something, or if i have just forgotten to update the files, go to the doom9
thread here. Unzip the file into a folder, no installer or anything, just unzip and
away you go.
You will also need ffdshow, which you can get
here. It uses avisynth, which
if you dont have is
here
Yey, we are all set to go! I will put in some pics in this guide as i know
everyone loves pics!!
Ok so double click your RipBot264.exe and you should get this window:

Then click Add to insert your video file and the following window will appear.

All nice and easy so far im sure you will agree. Click the ... button along side
video to select your video file, be it avi, mpeg, VOB, mkv etc. Now ripbot will
automatically demux your audio which can take a little time on a slow machine or
a huge video file. once its done and its happy, you should see a screen like
this below:

Now you can start pissing about with the settings. As this is a PSP site i will
be showing you a PSP compatible encode, but if you were going to use it for your
PS3 or Xbox, just change the settings to ensure compatibility with your device.
So for the PSP, chose the PSP profile, adjust the bit rate and maybe use
normalize 200% if you find your audio a little quiet. Make sure .mp4 is selected
and now we can move onto the sexy stuff (not really) of adjusting the
properties.... So guess what we do here, good work bongo, we click the huge
button marked properties and like a little magic midget, up pops this window:

As ripbot is a smart mofo, its only given us the size options that stick to our
aspect ratio, 4:3 in this case. If your source is 16:9 you will get the full
glory of setting the size to 480x272. Now hit the big right facing arrow to
alter the colours, if thats your thing.

use the settings above or mess about with it, i dont care to be honest, i reall
dont. Then click the big fat ok button and close your eyes and make a wish! I
wished to be back at the main ripbot screen and the little pixie of love made it
come true, bless you! I tentatively clicked the big done box, my worst
nightmares did not come true and i was greeted with this sight, one which made
my eyes bleed with its beauty.

Hit the start button and go make a nice cheese sandwich, unless you have gall stones when i dont advise you eat cheese at all. Go play with your kitten, come back, upload your video and then light a candle in my honour at the shrine of your gods.
Did you like the new guide? please say yes! please please :) Ah like i care what you think anyway.
Keep sane little fleas
